Guilford Courthouse Day 2

Quick post on the conclusion of the 2010 edition of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Day Two unfolded similar to the first day with companyy drill at Tannenbaum Park prior to a quick nooning (lunch) and prep for the afternoon tactical demonstration. This time, the march to Counrty Park found us closer to the crowd and not in our traditional location in the trees. 4th Coy took tits customary position on the right of the Redcoat Crown forces. For this scenario, all redcoated Crown forces represented the Guards ar Guilford. The Hessians were augmented by the ble coated 2nd South Carolina. It was a little odd to see a Continental unit in formation with our Hessian allies but at a dustance they appeared to blend in and provided some “bulk” to the Hessian lines, giving a more realistic feel to the engagement.

After the demonstration, 4th Coy marched back to Tannenbaum Park, which was nearly two miles from Counrty Park. Early in the march we were joined by two (very) young recruits who brought their own (toy) muskets to the line. Our two recruits kept up for the entire march and didn’t peel off until we made it back to camp and were dismissed.

Overall, a great event and a gereat way to finally open the 2010 campaign season.
