The annual Battle of Guilford Courthouse became the first company event in the 2010 campaign due to the weather cancellation of Fort Ward in February. And the first fifteen minutes of the first drill on the first day showed it. But after working out the rust, the company looked in mid-campaign form, performing the manual of arms and marching drill at Tannenbaum Park before making the hike to Country Park for the reenactment. The march to Country Park was a return to the past, as the reenactment moved back to Country Park after being held at Price Park for the previous five or six years. The first day was a reenactment of the entire battle, with the Crown forces emerging from the woods to attack three successive lines of Continental and militia soldiers. The second day was a little bit different, with the reenactment focusing on a part of the action, particularly the Guards and the Hessians. To augment the numbers, a Continental unit fell in with the blue-coated Hessians and all red coated Crown forces became “Guards” for the day. The action was a bit chaotic but a nice change of pace from the standard Guilford Courthouse scenario.
